PRESBYTERIAN HALL

OPENED AT WHANGAREI The completion of one of the largest buildings yet erected in Whangarei was celebrated with a conversazione held in the rear of the premises last evening. The building, which adjoins the Town Hall, was erected by the Presbyterian Church trustees and comprises a garage, car showroom and a suite of shops. About 300 people were present at the opening, which was presided over by the Rev. George Lochore, Moderator of the Whangarei charge, who spoke on the development of the town and the advancement of the Church in the district.

Other speakers were the Mayor, Mr. L. J. Brake, Messrs. D. A. McLean, G. TI. Morrish and W. J. Dudley. The addresses were interspersed with an excellent concert programme, vocal contributors being Mrs. Blanchard, Misses Mollie and Isobel Isherwood, Fyfe and Mr. F. C. Baines. Two glees were sung by choir members and accompanists for the evening were Mrs. Isherwood and Mr. S. B. Dunn. Supper, provided by the lady members of the congregation, brought a delightful evening to a close.
