POTATO MARKET QUIET
POSITION IN THE SOUTH (Special to THE SUN.y CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The slack season has definitely set in for potatoes. There is a fairly good inquiry, but the price, 82s 6d f.0.b.5.i., equal to £2 15s on trucks at country stations, is not attractive to farmers, some of whom declare they would rather let the produce rot in the pit than sell at that figure The demand from Auckland is fairly good for shipment by the Waipiata, which leaves in about a week’s time, but merchants are not in a position to quote.
