HARVEST OF LANG’S RULE COSTLY COMMISSION By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 11.5 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Referring to the Fiddington Royal Commission, Mr. T: R. Bavin, Prime Minister, said that taxpayers in New South Wales had to pay over £ 5,000 for the purpose of the public inquiry, which was quite unnecessary as it served no public purpose of any importance whatever. The chairman of the commission was paid 50 guineas a day for 23 days, or a total of £1,207 10s. Other commissioners received 40 guineas a day each. Other legal fees paid by the Crown amounted to over £2,000.
