MANUREWA BRIDGE
CESSATION OF WORK HIGHWAY BOARD’S DECISION (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Instructions have been issued by the Main Highways Board for the cessation of work on improvements to the Manurewa over-bridge on the main highway south of Auckland, consequent upon intimation from the chairman of the Manurewa Town Board, some time ago, that the Town Board was agreeable to providing its proportion of cost of improvements to the over-bridge necessitated by the construction of a concrete road through the town district. The Main Highways Board arranged to have the work commenced. Subsequently the town board notified that until its commitments on the construction of the concrete road were definitely known, it was not in a position to make any contribution to over-bridge improvements. In view of this decision the board has no other course but to hold Lip the completion of the work until the Manurewa Town Board indicates that it is in a position to meet its share of the cost. This dictum was laid down at the last meeting of the board held in Wellington last week.
