THROWN FROM SEAT WITH TERRIFIC FORCE
LORRY DRIVER INJURED COLLISION WITH TRAIN (Special to THE SUN.) MASTERTON, Thursday. A collision between a lorry loaded with timber and the Wairarapa-Well-ington morning mail train, near the Woodside railway station this morning, resulted in the driver of the lorry, Mr. A. H. Bull, receiving a broken leg and a severe scalp wound. He is now in hospital in a serious condition. Mr. Bull, who is a carrier living at Grey town, was carting a load of timber from a mill in the district toward Greytown and ran into the train just as it entered the crossing.
The lorry struck the third wheel of the engine and was dragged across the cattle stops, the engine being torn from the chassis and debris hurled in every direction. The front of the vehicle was wrecked and the driver was thrown from the cab on to the cattle* stops with terrific force. He was conscious when picked up and was conveyed by train from Woodside to Greytown and admitted to the Greytown Hospital. •
