TOWN CLERK’S MARRIAGE

PRESENTATION BY STAFF Mr. H. F. McLeod, electrical engineer, presided over a meeting of the Taumarunui bordugh staff called for the purpose of making a presentation to the town clerk, Mr. I. A. Webb, on the eve of his marriage. The chairman said that the staff wished to congratulate Mr. Webb on the step he was taking, and desired to make him a presentation. On behalf of the subscribers, he wished their guest the best of luck and happiness in his married life. Mr. W. Hibberd then handed Mr. Webb an electric kettle, the gift being suitably acknowledged. The health of the bride-elect was honoured, and the Mayor, Mr. G. E. Manson, responded on her behalf. Crs. G. F. Thompson and D. M. Simmons responded to the toast of the borough council, and Superintendent R. Ross acknowledged the toast of the fire brigade, both being proposed by Mr. McLeod. Proceedings terminated with the singing of the National Anthem.
