CHEESE-MAKERS PROTEST Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. Considerable discussion took place at to-day’s meeting of the Manawatu Dairy Companies’ Association, and centred round regulation 37 of the Dairy Act, which forbids factories to utilise the waste product from cheese presses. Several companies wrote saying they saw no reason for the regulation, if the fat was collected in the same sanitary manner as they collected it. A letter from one small company sa d the fat collected would mean £SO a year to them. It was decided to communicate with other associations on the matter, and alsc to pretest against the action of pig exporters in attempting to have the weight of pigs reduced from 1501 b. :o 1401 b. Othei associations and pig breeders’ societies are tc> be notified of the protest.
