CALCUTTA TEA SALES

By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright CALCUTTA, Wednesday. At the Calcutta tea sales the average prices were: Common Pekoe and Souchong, 12 annas to 12 annas 6 pies; clear common broken Pekoe and Souchong, ISannas to 13 annas 6 pies; even black leaf Pekoe, 13 annas 6 pies to 14 annas. The quality generally showed a slight falling off, the tone tending to dearer. Except for poor and medium descriptions, which were irregular, the market was good. Liquoring teas were steady. Clean, common teas ruled at three pies dearer. Orange Pekoes and Pekoes appreciated slightly. Commonest sorts were strong and powdery dusts advanced six pies, and clean, grainy sorts up to two annas.—A. and N.Z.
