Cl R ALEXANDER GIBB, tie well known British engineer, has been engaged by the Waimakarin River Trust to report on schemes to prevent the river’s encroachments. Sir Alexander Gibb. K.8.E.. C. 8.. was born in 1872. Hr was educated at London University and waa afterwards a pupil of the late Sir John Wolfe Barry. He has been actively associated in the design and construction of docks, harbours, sea defence works, hyd-o-electric power installations, railways, bridges, and tunnels, and acts as adviser to numerous engineering bodies at Home and abroad. He is consulting engineer to the Admiralty for the Singapore Base, and was civil engineer-in-chief at the Admiralty. 1918-191$. He is a retired brigadier-general. ip*- gg g g WMSSMSWMMS
