A RECENT WEDDING

SAVAGE—VALENTINE A wedding of much local interest took place in the Presbyterian Church, Whangarei, on Saturday, when Miss Edith Valentine, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Valentine, of Portland, was married to Mr. Roland Savage, of Remuera. The Rev. G. W. Lochore was the officiating minister and Mr. S. B. Dunn presided at the organ. The church was beautifully docorated with arum lilies. The bride looked very charming as she entered the church on the arm of her father, by whom she was given away. She wore a beautiful gown of white crepe de chine, with an overdress of georgette and silver lace, and a touch of pale pink. The veil was arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white and pale pink flowers. Three bridesmaids attended the bride. Miss Hilda Valentine, sister of the bride, wore a becoming frock of iris mauve crepe de chine. Miss Savage, sister of the bridegroom, chose a frock of pearl grey crepe de chine, and Miss Pemberton, Portland, was frocked in apricot crepe de chine. Dainty tulle scarfs to match each frock and black crinoline hats were worn, and each bridesmaid carried a posy of flowers to tone. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. J. Carter as best man, and the groomsmen were Messrs. L. Herron and R. Mellars, all of Auckland. After the ceremony some 40 guests were entertained at the Ritz, where the tables were artistically decorated with mauye and apricot anemones and ranuculi. Coloured streamers in the same shades were draped across the room, and from the centre a large floral bell was suspended. Toasts were honoured in vein and good wishes extended to the bride and bridegroom. Mrs. Valentine received the guests, and wore a handsome frock of amethyst silk corded repp, with hat to tone. With this was worn a fox fur, and she carried a beautiful posy of violets. Among the guests were: Mrs. Savage, Senr., wore a smart navy blue frock and hat to match. Mrs. McLeod, Waipu, was wearing a beech-brown dress with hat to tone. Miss McLeod, Waipu, olive green ensemble, with green hat. Miss Goldsmith, Auckland, frock of mist crepe de chine, with lace overdress, and cherry red hat. Miss Walker, Auckland, black crepe de chine frock with scarlet hat. Mrs. Jarvis, Auckland, lax'kspur blue frock, with hat to match. Mrs. S. Williams, Portland, black lace dress, vieux rose hat. Mrs. Pemberton, Portland, fawn tailored suit and ciel blue hat. Mrs. Peters, Portland, leaf green frock, hat to match. Mrs. Leigh, Portland, floral crepe de chine frock and black hat. Mrs. W. Williams, Portland, frock of fawn crepe de chine, and fawn hat. Mrs. Gray, Portland, floral crepe de chine frock and fawn hat. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Savage left by the South-bound express. The bride travelled in a fawn ensemble suit and hat to tone. Their future home will be in Auckland.
