“IS YOUR CHILD BACKWARD?”
Is your child backward or forward, compared with the average age of the pupils of his class at school? The following figures, compiled by the Minister of Education, show the average age of the primary school scholars in the Dominion: Primers, 6 years 11 months; Standard 1, 8 years 11 months; Standard 2, 9 years 11 months; Standard 3, 11 years; Standard 4, 12 years 1 month; Standard 5, 13 years 1 month; Standard 6, 13 years 11 months. Auckland has the highest and Southerners the lowest average for the provinces.
