WAIUKU TENNIS CLUB

OFFICIAL OPENING The official opening of the Waiuku tennis courts was held last Saturday in the presence of a large number of enthusiasts. The president, Mr. A. W. M. Ohlson, welcomed the visitors and expressed the wish that they would have an enjoyable time. In referring to the club, the president stated that it was gratifying to see that the membership had considerably increased, and as the club was now affiliated with the Franklin Tennis Club, and would be competing in matches against outside clubs, the coming season should be a very successful one. He further stated that the courts had received considerable attention, and would be found to be in excellent order. Mr. Ohlson then declared the courts open and asked Mrs. Ohlson to drive the first ball over the net, which was ably done to the accompaniment of applause. Shortly afterwards the courts presented a very lively scene, which continued the whole afternoon with the exception of a short spell, when full justice was done to an excellent afternoon tea which had been provided by the ladies of the club.
