MANUREWA BOWLING CLUB’S OPENING
The Manurewa Bowling Club held its informal opening on Saturday last, when there were upwards of 30 players present, including about a dozen new members, who had their first game of the season. These new men received instruction in the first principles of the game from Mr. R. Frost, who has kindly offered his services as club coach for the ensuing year.
The greens, which have undergone considerable impi*ovements during the winter, were in capital order, and reflect very great credit upon the greenkeeper, Mr. Butterwortli. During the afternoon, a friendly game with a rink from Clevedon resulted as follows, Manurewa names first:
Butterworth, Hawthorne, Murray, Pegler, 29, v. McKenzie, Collett, Hancock, Dawe, 19.
The club will hold its official opening on Saturday, October 22. The, green was playing in good order, and promises to be one of the best In the district this season.
