UNKNOWN MAN’S BODY FOUND
LONELY DEATH IN BUSH DISCOVERY NEAR TE KUITI Press Association. TE KUITI, To-day. Information was received by the police late on Sunday night that the remains of a man had been found about two miles from Kopaki, near the Mangapehi Stream, in a remote and almost inaccessible place, surrounded by high cliffs. Tile police found the body, which was decomposed. The inquest produced no evidence of identification. T 16 body was that of a man between 55 and 60 years of age. about sft lOin high, and of slim build. He had been wearing a dark brown striped suit, with grey flannel trousers, and wore size 9 boots. The theory Is that the unknown man was going from his camp to the stream for water, as he had a tin tied round his neck, and that death was due to starvation, or exhaustion. The man’s camp was found at the bottom of a high cliff, in a place where, it it reported, settlers have never been. The inquest was adjourned pending police inquiries.
