NEGLIGENT DRIVING
COLLISION WITH CYCLIST At the Onehunga Police Court this morning John Credin,' who failed to appear, was charged with negligently driving a motor-lorry. For the prosecution it was shown that the accused was driving the vehicle past the Onehunga Post Office in daylight, when he unnecessarily swerved to the left and collided with John Jones, a young telegraph messenger, was was just mounting his bicycle at the kerbside, preparatory to the delivery of a telegram. The lad was forcibly thrown on to the pavement and his machine was considerably damaged. Two a dult witnesses, Herbert Andrew Muir and William Mills, gave evidence to show that the offence was one of utter carelessness and want of attention on the part of Credin. A fine of £5, costs 19s and witnesses fees was imposed.
