FLYERS TO MAKE MAP RHODESIA PLACES CONTRACT British Wireless—Press Assn Copyright RUGBY, Thursday. The Government of Northern Rhodesia has placed with the Aircraft Operating Company a contract for the air survey of the upper waters of the River Zambesi. The area to be surveyed extends from Livingstone, 400 miles up the river, and includes the two tributary rivers, Lungwebungu and Kabompo. In makng the survey an airplane will be flown at a height of 10,000 ft. along the course of the river, and a series of vertical overlapping photographs will be taken from this height. The surveyors will also make special large scale mosaic maps of the rapids. “The Times” says the new survey will afford a fresh illustration of the important part which aerial surveys of unmapped areas i 3 beginning to play in the further development of the material resources of the Empire.—A. and N.Z.
