“TILLIE THE TOILER” Another popular programme lias been arranged at the Strand Theatre, commencing to-day. Heading the bill is a hilarious comedy-drama, “Tiilie the Toiler,” starring Marion Davies, heroine of “The Red Mill,” and “Beverly of Graustark.” “Tiilie the Toiler,” an exceptionally amusing- comedy, based on the famous Russ Westover comic cartoon series, with Marion Davies in the title role. Hobart Henley, director of “A Slave of Fashion,” “His Secretary,” “The Auction Block,” and many other screen hit \ directed this new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture with a cast that includes Matt Moore Harry Crocker, George Fawcett, George K. Arthur, Bert Roach, Claire McDowell and others. The picture celebrates Miss Davies’s first venture into pure comedy, and Droves her to be one of the screen’s most delightful and talented comediennes. As “Tiilie, ’ a thoughtless and frivolous stenographer, who creates havoc in business. Miss Davies is superb. Her costumes of the exaggerated flapper variety, will, it is prophesied. set new styles for flappers, both on and off the screen. The Strand Symphony Orchestra will render another of their excellent musical entertainments, and will play a sparkling overture, “Pot Pourri” (Sullivan). Included in the programme is a Strand Magazine of the latest topical events, and an amusing comedy. On Monday next the finalists in the “Miss New Zealand, 1927,” Film Star Quest will appear.
