MISS N.Z. 1927 CONTEST

FINALISTS’ APPEARANCE Great interest attaches to the appearance in Auckland of the finalists in the All New Zealand Screen Star Contest, which is now in its most interesting stage. The box plans for the season are now open at the Strand Theatre, and all those anxious to see the Dominion’s fairest daughters should immediately book their seats. Crowded and enthusiastic audiences have everywhere greeted the girls on their triumphant tour, and, judging by the applause with which they are nightly received, New Zealanders are very proud of the fair representatives that each province has selected for the great honour. In addition to the beauty parade in which the girls appear, special screen tests of each contestant are shown at each performance, and also most interesting acting tests are given where ever the size of the stage permits. The finalists are all splendid examples of the virile young womanhood of our •fair country—all excelling in sport of every kind and bountifully endowed by nature with brains, charm and beauty.

From golf to guns will be the screen progress of William Haines when he finishes his role in “Spring Fever.” He will then leave for West Point College, to start drill there for a new picture with a background of a military college.
