Heip From Harbour Board.—At the suggestion of the chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, the Auckland Harbour Board decided yesterday to give £IOO to the Mayor’s unemployment fund. Hit By cnjntlng Engine.—A shipwright, G. A. C. Bickford, of Lyttelton, was struck and severely injured by a shunting engine while crossing the railway line at the dockhead. He received severe injuries to his right hip and elbow, and was much bruised and cut about. It was stated that the cowcatcher on the engine hurled him clear of the line. He was removed to the Christchurch Hospital. SUCCESSFUL FIRST NIGHT.—The Australian, Harry Tighe's play, “Old Mrs. Wiley,” had a most successful first right at the Queens Theatre, London. —A. and N.Z. EASTERN KING’S TOUR. —11 is reported that the King of Afghanistan will shortly visit various European capitals, including London, leaving Afghan stan for this purpose early in December.—A. and N.Z.
