BY-LAW BREAKERS GET SHORT SHRIFT

WEEKLY SQUAD FINED Fewer than the average number of offenders against by-laws were summoned to appear before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., at the Traffic Court this morning. For carrying out a plumbing job without a council permit, E. Allen was fined, including costs, £3 11s. A. Kiniard was convicted and ordered to pay costs for a similar offence under less serious circumstances. William Lick caused obstruction with his car. The line and costs amounted to £1 10s. G. Abel and P. Lloyd failed to obey traffic officers—£l and costs each. E. G. Pinker, O. Sands, L. Heard and L, Hill left the court 10s and costs the poorer for leaving cars unattended. DANGEROUS DRIVING For dangerous driving, Herbert L. Leslie was fined £3 and costs, Leonard Hartley, £2 and costs; George F. Saunders, £1 and costs, and Roy Handlin, 10s and costs. For driving without a licence L. Russell had to pay £1 and costs. The Waitemata Council prosecuted H. Nelson for using a lorry without its weight being conspicuously shown, and for loading the vehicle over the four tons allowed. The penalty, with costs, amounted to £2 10s. The Manukau County Council took action against Lavid McCorquindale for allowing cattle to wander. The error cost him 10s costs, and £1 Is solicitor’s fee. William Parrish, jun.. interfered with cattle seized for impounding. Parrish, who spoke abusively to the North - cote Borough ranger, was ordered to pay 10s costs and 15s expenses. POLICE PROSECUTIONS For driving without licences, J. K. Austin and J. McCraig were each fined £l. For faulty parking Ah Shew was fined 20s. For allowing chimneys to catch fire E. Andrew and W. McQueen were each fined ss. For leaving cars unattended, C. A. Anderson, W. F. Monteith, G. R. Blackett, C. E. Waddingham and H. Cochrane were each fined 10s. For driving motor-vehicles at night without lights, E. Cheadle was fined 20s, Thomas Richards 40s, and J. McDonald and H. B. Petersen, 10s each.
