HUNTLY FOOTBALL
NOTES AND COMMENTS Saturday afternoon last was ideal for football, and Huntly played Wanderers at Soccer, and NgaruaAvahia at junior League, on the Recreation Ground here, Bailey’s paddock not noAV being available owing to farming requirements. In this connection Mr. Bailey must be thanked for his kindness in allowing the use of his paddock for the code during the winter months. In the oval ball contest, Ngaruawahia asserted their supremacy on their opponent’s ground, and beat them by 13—6. For the winners Diven, Veitch, and Curtin scored, Tittleton booting tAvo over the bar. The losers’ tally was made up by two tries by Whorekey. Of the individual players for the visitors, Tittleton at fullback was very sound, and his play outstanding. Diven and Dare were about the pick of the others, with Saunders. For the locals, Whorskey at threequarter, was the pick of the backs, and McNeill and Watson in front. Mr. George Rayner refereed. In the Soccer match, excitement was never at fever heat, in fact, it Avas as modest as a game of croquet. The game ended in a draw, one goal apiece, and brought the curtain down on the actual club competitions. For the visitors th« substitute goalie shaped well, and young Hillman should make a good player, with experience. Of the others none could be picked out, for they were an even lot. For Huntly, Hunter, Hazell and Bate were the pick. Mr. J. Wallace was the referee. The Sunshine Cup final is scheduled for Saturday next. The South Auckland Football Association has advised the Huntly Club that the committee of the association has decided that the club has defaulted to Thistle through not playing on the latter club’s ground on September 15. This should be a warning to clubs that obedience to instructions is necessary, and that if they take up a contrary attitude the penalty must follow. SCHOOLS SOCCER The tfuntly district schools Soccer, senior section, has just been completed, and the Rotowaro boys have Avon the premiership. The points are as follows: —Rotowaro 12, Glen Massey 10, Huntly B 7, Huntly A 6, Pukemiro, The midget knock-out competition for the juniors and the Midget Cup will take place on Saturday next.
