DEFENCE FORCES

ANNUAL EXAMINATIONS ENGINEERS’ CAMP AT TRENTHAM Examinations for first appointments to commissions from the territorials and senior cadets, and for the promotion of senior cadet and territorial officers, were concluded at Auckland last week. The examinations covered practice and theory, and drew more candidates than usual. The results will not be known for some time. Otherwise the defence forces are at present chiefly occupied with routine work. At a camp at Trentham officers and N.C.O.’s from engineering depots throughout New Zealand wall undergo instruction from to-day until October 1. Captain G. H. Clifton is representing Auckland.
