AUCKLAND CYCLE ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP

TO-MORROW’S BIG RACE KEEN RACING PROMISED The Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association will hold its 50-mile Auckland cycle road championship on Saturday, starting from the Alexandra Park trotting ground and finishing there. The race is timed to start at 2.15 p.m. and during the running of the big event a programme of athletic and cycling events will be submitted. The race is a very open one, the scratch men looking to have a great chance With seven such riders as M. P. Byrnes, J. H. Wade, H. Dwight, C. G. Galbraith, L. G. Chambers, E. J. Blakway and L. Wilson, the limit riders on 20 minutes will have to go some to keep away. Biders and their handicaps who have a chance of saluting the judge are S. Lichfield, W. Parks, A. C. Stein on 16min., L. Devlin or C. L. Russell on 12min., W. Rowe, H. McElroy or W. Boiland, 8 min. The riders on smin. appear to be held safe by the backmarkers Should the afternoon be fine, a great race is anticipated. The meeting of M. P. Byrnes and the young New Zealand champion, J. H. Wade, should be worth seeing. To sum it up the placed riders should be found in L. Devlin. J. H. Wade or M. P. Byrnes. The championship should be won by M. P. Byrnes. ■*
