LATE MR. G. S. SEIVER
Mr. George Samuel Seiver, who died in Auckland recently at the age of 84, came to Auckland from London when he was 16, and was engaged on running a cutter between Auckland, Russell and Northern ports. On the outbreak of the Thames gold rush he tried mining, but with little success. He then removed to Kaeo, Whangaroa, where he went in for bush contracts. After several years of successful contracting he took up farming. He was keenly interested in horse racing, and bred several wellknown horses. He was a. member of the Whangaroa County Council, Licensing Committee and School Committee. For the last nine years he had lived in retirement. Mrs. Seiver predeceased her husband.
