NEW BY-LAWS
ADOPTED BY CITY COUNCIL The first step in the putting into operation of a number of new by-laws was taken when the City Council la.st evening adopted a number of alterations. From 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. and between 11.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturdays, vehicular traffic must not turn to the right at the junction of Queen and Customs Streets, or at the junction of Eymonds Street, Karangahape Road, and Grafton Bridge. No horse-drawn vehicle may be driven along Queen Street between Shortland and Wellesley Streets between 4.30 p.m. and 6 p.m., Mondays to Fridays inclusive, and between 11.30 a.m. an 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Motors plying for hire must be fitted with taxi-meters. One motor vehicle may not pass another, going in the same direction, on Grafton Bridge. Mechanical devices for signalling changes of direction are to be allowed on cars. Other sections deal with frontages at Remuera, fees for advertising signs, piping in buildings, plumbing joints, water charges, dangerous goods, itinerant purchasers of household refuse, abattoir offal fees, parking of vehicles, omnibus routes, and fees for barbers’ shops and street stalls. The Legal Committee will go into the alterations again, and they will be confirmed on October 30, and come into operation the following day.,
