“Thank You, New Zealand”

GRATITUDE OF BRITAIN Fiscal Policy and National Feeling By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Received 12.34 p.m. LONDON, Wednesday. THE “Morning Post,” in a leading article entitled “Thank You, New Zealand,’’ says: “The Dominion has shown a regard of the fiscal policy as an economic expression of national feeling. In its desire for Imperial unity it gives British goods preference over foreign.”

LANCASHIRE will be most grateful for substantial assistance due to the New Zealand exemptions. New Zealand oC her own volition, is confining her markets to British goods. If she does not manufacture herself to any considerable extent, she has real-

ised the ideal of free trade within the Empire. The British principle of free trade in foodstuffs and raw materials prevents making an adequate response. It is, therefore, no small thing that New Zealand is doing.”—A. and N.Z.Sun.
