WHY THE TOHEROAS SELECTED CHELTENHAM
Dwellers at Cheltenham have been puzr.led of late. Mysteriously, still another attraction has been added to their popular beach. The succulent toheroa, sultan of soups, provider of a dish fit for the gods themselves, was found neath the ebbing tide. CHELTENHAM residents have every Cv reason to congratulate themselves. Yet they were not satisfied . . . Had not the fame of the toheroa spread far beyond New Zealand shores” Had not successive High Commissioners fed the mighty of this earth upon the famous shell-fish until it became known to every London epiCU «tiil, Cheltenham was mystified. Whv did the toheroas, they argued, select Cheltenham for a colony after their migration from the Ninety-Mile Vet it did not demand an Edgar Wallace to supply the answer. As so often is the ease, the explanation Twelve months ago an enthusiastic admirer of the toheroa presented a kitull to a citizen of Cheltenham. Now this citizen of Cheltenham did not share bis friend.’* enthusiasm for
the dish of kings. The easiest way out of the difficulty, he thought, was to dump the bag in the tide. Somehow the toheroas liked Cheltenham. There they were, and there they have stayed. As yet no prohibitive restrictions have been imposed by an unsympathetic Government upon toheroahunting at Cheltenham. So bathers, this summer, may enjoy this delicacy of delicacies after iheir morning dip.
