Raetihi Valuations.—Raetilii Borough Council litis been advised that officers of the Valuation Department will visit that town in March next to hear complaints regarding valuations. Car Strikes Telegraph Pole.— Through one of its tyres bursting a motor-ear skidded off the road and struck a telegraph pole at Swanson on Saturday evening. One of the occupants, Mr. William Taylor, aged 23 was cut about the face by the broken windscreen. He was taken to the AutUlntl Hospital. Newmarket’s Population Record.— The borough of Newmarket has a population record. With its 18.37 persons to the acre, it is the most densely populated area in New Zealand. Auckland City proper has a density of population of 10.42 persons to the acre, compared with Wellington, 6.25. Christchurch. 8.25, and Dunedin. 6.54. Carved Maori Bowl.— The carved wooden bowl, which was recently tovtnd in a swamp on the Hauraki Plains and handed over to the Auckland Museum authorities, has been presented to the institution by Mr. H. Waud. of Keropeehi. The bowl has aroused much interest as it cannot be definitely decided as to what use it was put. THE SUN published a photegraph of it on Saturday,,
