CAN HE COME BACK?

That good horse First Carbine is in work again, and Newdick Bros, have big hopes of getting the El Carbine gelding back to form. First Carbine was a solid pacer two seasons ago, and put up a rattling performance at the Otahuhu summer fixture of 1920, when he spreadoag led a field in 4.27 3-5. With Jewel, Newdick’s horse is tne only other owned in Auckland that has New Zealand Cup qualifications. First Carbine was placed third in the Auckland Cup of 1925, behind Nelson Derby and Audacious. With tie light classes now prevailing for the A.uckland fixtures, the aged pacer will be in his element if he comes right.
