METROPOLITAN COUNCIL
COMBINED SUBURBAN MEETING The New Lynn, Glen Eden and Henderson Town Boards held. a combined meeting on Thursday evening. Mr. W. L. Titchener, chairman of the New Lynn Board, presided. The meeting was convened to discuss the proposed scheme of local government for the Greater Auckland area, on the lines of a Metropolitan Council for the major services, with the maintenance of the present local bodies for the minor and local services. Mr. T. Blood worth described the existing chaotic conditions. Mr. L. A. Eadv explained the proposals drawn up by the Auckland Committee for the purpose of remedying the present evils. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth made a forcible speech on the advantages to be derived by the community consequent on the carrying out of the proposed scheme.
