ROAD TO WAIKAREMOANA At (he meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council on Thursday evening a. letter was received from the Auckland Automobile Association stating that it: had decided to urge the Main Highways Board to get the work on the Mamaku Hills pushed on more quickly. A letter from the council to the Minister in Charge of tourist resorts regarding the formation of the road to Wailcaremoana, via Ruatahuna, brought a reply from the minister to the effect that he had always supported this road and would continue to do so, At present 17 men were employed on the work. A letter from the Minister of Public Works on the same subject stated that the matter would receive his consideration. The Railway Department advised that it would remove 14 trees which obscured the view of the crossing at the scene of the recent accident. A warning bell is also to be erected at the crossing.
