CRICKET CLUB BALL
SPECTACULAR FUNCTION The Town Hall, Papatoetoe, was the scene of a very gay gathering last evening, when the Papatoetoe cricketers held their ball. Throngs of gay young couples occupied the floor, and enjoyed a cheery evening till the early hours, dancing to the intriguing strains of Mainland’s orchestra.
The decorations in the hall were of an unusual type, and were greatly admired by all, the streamers of club colours forming a gay canopy overhead, while the walls were adorned with brightly coloured bunting, and a sprinkling of greenery, put a finish to the artistic scheme. A couple of pleasing extras were provided by Miss K. Waters, and Mr. Robertson. Messrs. D. Burnside, E. H. Burnside and Alex Swaflield efficiently carried out the duties of M.C.’s. Among those present were: Mrs. F. M. Waters, in a gown of black maroc&in. Mrs. Robertson, prettily beaded blue georgette gown. Mrs. Highland, dainty frock of cyclamen crepe de chine, with girdle of autumn leaves. Mrs. A. Swaffield, black lace gown. Mrs. D. Burnside, gown of black crepe de chine. Mrs. Ernest Knight, gown of embossed lemon georgette with georgette panels. Mrs. Grierson, ' flame georgette frock, handsomely beaded.
