“A SOCIAL MENACE”

WHITE WOMAN AND HINDUS LONG DRUNKENNESS RECORD Cecilia Ah Lap, the white wife of a Chinaman, asked Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to-day for time to pay a £lO fine. She got time —it was a month’s gaol. She was charged with drunkenness and two breaches of a prohibition order. Senior-Sergeant Edwards said she was a third offender for drunkenness and had broken her prohibition order seven times. “She’s a menace to the community at present,” said the Senior-Sergeant, “and requires medical treatment.” It was mentioned that she had been consorting with Hindu men during the past two or three days.
