Hamilton Rainfall. —August was a wet month in Hamilton. The total rainfall recorded was 8.8 in., and the maximum fall of .18in. occurred on Tuesday, August 30. Rain fell on 20 days. Remanded for Sentence George Wells, aged 43, who pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-day to a charge of stealing a rug valued at £ 2 from a motor-car, was remanded until Monday for sentence. Experiments on Oysters. —An application to commence experimental operations with new oyster beds, made by Mr. H. C. Bull to the Minister of ; Marine, is being backed up by the Chamber of Commerce. Rain Spoils Snow Sports. —Owing to rain the Ruapehu Ski Club’s sports, which were to have been held yesterday. have been postponed until conditions are more favourable. Earlier in the week the snow was in an almost ideal condition, but a slight thaw has now set in. Whau Bridge Approach. —Motorists will be pleased to learn that normal conditions again prevail at the approach to the Whau Bridge. The broken section of concrete at the structure has been repaired and the full width of the highway is now open for traffic.
