“YOU’LL GET SIX MONTHS”
HUSBAND WARNED TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHT OFF Charles Ruffo Morrell, a carpenter, was preparing to make a trans-Tasman flight, but Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., interfered with his plans in the Police Court to-day. Morrell pleaded guilty to a charge of having failed to maintain his wife. His explanation was that he had not been able to find her for six years. "Well, you’ve tound her now, Mr. Hunt, as he made an order for 30s a w eek. “You pay that, or up you go to Mount Eden,” he added. Morrell mentioned that he had nnother child to keep, and he intended going to Australia. “In fact, ray tools have been sent to Sydney, he said. "If you go, it’ll be six months tor you,” said the magistrate. "These wife deserters should get six months straight off,” he added.
