RUAPEHU SKI CLUB CAMP BEST SNOW FOR YEARS (From Our Oven Correspondent.) NATIONAL PARK, Monday. j The annual 10-days’ camp of the Ruapehu Ski Club commenced at the Whakapapa Huts, National Park, on Saturday, in perfect weather. The party numbers 52. The snow conditions are practically j ideal and considerably better than has been experienced in previous years. On Saturday afternoon members en- ' joyed ski-ing on fast snow below the lower scoria fiat and yesterday the ; whole day was spent by the party on ' the flat itself. About a dozen picnic parties arrived at the huts by motor- ; car yesterday, and have joined in the j ski-ing and tobogganing. # ' Members of the club are making a ; trip to the Tama Lakes to-day. It is hoped to hold the ski-ing sports on Wednesday. For entertainment in the evenings the party has a six-valve wireless set, which is working satisfactorily, and a miniature motion picture projector. Two members of the party, Messrs. W. T. Nelson and I. Powell, arrived at Whakapapa on Saturday afternoon after a trip from Ketetahi, the northermost post of the park, where they had spent several days. For two days they were confined to their huts at Ketetahi by a blizzard. On the way to Whakapapa they spent a night at the Mangatepopo Huts, and made an ascent of Ngauruhoe the following day.
