ONEHUNGA ORPHANS

VICE-PRESIDENTS’ NIGHT It was “V.P. Bro. J. Warren’s Night” at the Onehunga Orphans’ Club on Saturday. Visiting members and friends included: Members of the Papakura Orphans’ Club, Bros. Rev. W. C. Wood, Seaton, Frances, Anderson, Walkingham. Pemberton and Piddock; E. V. Sutherland, president of the Onehunga Club; W. C. Coldicutt, Mayor of Onehunga; several members of the borough council; A. Holdsworth, who officiated as master of ceremonies: C. A. Osborne, secretary of the club; heads of local bodies, and residents of the borough. The orchestra gave a line programme during the evening. Among others who secured well-merited plaudits for entertaining the company were: Mr. J. Smithson, Mr. Lew Bickerton. Mr. J. Lonergan, Mr. J. Butler, Mr. Peter Dawson and Mr. James Eaves. Mr. Will Purcell played the accompaniments. A liberal cold collation was heartily enjoyed half-way through the proceedings. The next “open night” will claim Mr. W. C. Coldicutt, the Mayor, as chairman of the evening.
