FINAL RECITAL TO-NIGHT For his h recital in Auckland, Jascha Heil 3 chosen a splendid programme classical music and popular. This evening at the Town Hall, the famous violinist will revel in the vivid pageantry of Lalo’s “Symphonic Espagnole.” Both Heifetz and Isador Achron, who plays the orchestral transcription on the piano, find this beautiful composition full of opportunity. In Locatelli’s Sonata in F Minor the movements are played without a break, and Heifetz is celebrated for his impressive interpretation of this work of the old Italian composer, who was a violin virtuoso of the seventeenth centuhy There are also Bach’s quaint “Air on G String”; Schubert’s “Rondo in D,” full of rhythmical gaiety and sparkle; one of Debussy’s imaginative piano pieces, the exotic “L*a Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin,” containing delicate tonal colour; one of Sarasate’s entrancing compositions, “Gypsy Airs,” and the GreigAchron “Scherzo” (impromptu). As Mr. Heifetz leaves for Vancouver next Tuesday, this evening’s recital will be his final performance in Auckland, and consequently large booking is expected. Booking arrangements are advertised.
