MAHENO IN HUGE SEAS
BATTERED BY WAVES • SECOND SALOON AWASH By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Tuesday. The Maheno arrived at 1.30 p.m. today. She was behind her schedule time, as the result of meeting a succession of huge seas and strong head winds throughout the passage. One tremendous sea carried away her wireless, smashed 20 feet of the top deck railing and battered in the doors of the second-class saloon. The decks and the second saloon were constantly awash.—A. and N.Z.
