The British scientist, Sir Ronald Ross, whose discovery of methods for preventing malaria has saved innum- 1 erable lives, has been seriously 111 iu Loudon. Sir Ronald is now making a good recovery. He recently returned from a tour of the malarial districts cf India, where he gave advice to the health authorities on the best measures to adopt. Sir Ronald’s discovery of the means by which the malaria spores are conveyed from person to person by the mosquito made him world-famous. Two years ago the Ross Institute of Tropical Medicine was erected at Putney Heath, in London, by public subscripnon, to enable him to continue his research work.—A. and N.Z.
