YOUTHFUL BURGLARS

THEFTS AT PUKEKOHE COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, To-day. Depredations of the IS and 16-yeav old youths, Frank Sadlier and Ivan Henry Waterhouse, were unfolded in the Pukekohe Magistrate’s Court this morning, when both pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking and entering and theft of goods and money from Te Kauwbata and Kangiriri stores. Evidence regarding the thefts was given by Graham Roy Pulham and Harry Nicholas Pulham, of the firm of Messrs. Pulham and Begbie, storekeepers. In a statement to the police the youth admitted having used gloves to eliminate finger-prints, while the younger lad said Sadlier effected entrances on one occasion by using tin snips to cut the galvanised iron door. Both were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Sadlier is to remain in custody, but Waterhouse was allowed bail in one surety of £2O. The youth was further charged, and pleaded guilty, to wilfully damaging groceries valued at £lO, wilfully setting fire to a benzine engine, and placing glass on the Great South Road near Te Kauwhata. Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., adjourned the case until the c&Efa*; were dealt with in the Supreme Court. The application fpr the supprsssion of Waterhouse’s name was refused.
