KAIPARA CHAMBER
ASSISTING PUBLICITY The monthly meeting of the Kaipara Chamber of Commerce was held in Dargaville on Monday evening, the president, Mr. F. J. Dargaville, occupying the chair. Advice was received that a Government publicity officer would shortly be visiting the district with a photographer and cinema operator. It was decided to co-operate with the department in procuring good material for scenic advertising. The Community Tourist League wrote giving its aims and objects, and the chamber decided to join up with the league and thus assist in promoting tourist traffic. The postmaster advised that in response to the chamber’s request the outgoing Auckland mail would in future close at 8.45 a.m. daily, instead of 8 u.m. as heretofore. The member for the district, the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, advised that the matter of sandstoning the new Ara-pohue-Ruawai Road, known as Donovan's Deviation, is being considered. Mr. Dargaville stressed the point that concerted action should be taken by the various local bodies interested to endeavour to have the road put in order this summer.
