AUCKLAND RUGBY REP. PROGRAMME
“Rugby Enthusiast” writes: How long will it be before we see some real exciting football in Auckland, when our boys, a splendid combination, will be more evenly matched against a stronger and more efficient combination? And this without discredit to the three defeated teams mentioned. Rugby fans are surely entitled to witness more evenly matched games, and the Auckland team, I am sure, would welcome this. I am told that most of the best football will be seen toward the end of the season, but why not intersperse more representative matches throughout the whole football season? Another question I would like to ask: Would it not be possible to place
squares of grass turf on the shocking sea of mud opposite the grandstand, say, to-morrow; then have it rolled and ready for playing next Saturday? I hesitate to express my candid views for this reason only. I am not yet fully acquainted with all the facts that might prevent these desirable things from being brought about.
