BRISBANE BOUND
FAREWELL TO MINISTER To bid farewell to the Rev. Ivan S. Stebbins and Mrs. Stebbins, who are going to Brisbane, members of the Green Lane Congregational Church held a meeting on Saturday night. The services of Mr. Stebbins in the cause of Christianity were spoken of by the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher, the Rev. Stanley Morrison, the Rev. J. Stanton, vicar of Ellerslie, and Mr. H. Ennor, chairman of the District Committee of the Congregational Union. On behalf of Green Lane friends, Mr. McGechie. senior deacon of the church, presented to Mr. and Mrs. Stebbins a canteen of cutlery suitably inscribed. Gifts were also presented to Miss Una and Masters Maurice and Stanley Stebbins. Bouquets were given to Mrs. Stebbins by Miss Hilda Wilson and Miss Pearl Wallace, and Miss Welch presented Mrs. Stebbins with a photograph. Though he had come to like New Zealand very much, said Mr. Stebbins, the call to Vulture Street Church, South Brisbane, had been too strong because it came from his homeland. Mr. Stebbins preached farewell services at Green Lane yesterday.
