BOXING
HUNTLY TOURNAMENT INTERESTING BOUTS (From Our Own Correspondent.) HUNTLY, To-day. A boxing tournament in connection with the ITuntly Queen Carnival took place on Friday evening. Colonel A. Plugge acted as referee, and Mr. Claris as timekeeper. Dr. McDiarmid was senior medical attendant. The chairman was Mr. George, and Mr. E. Verrall represented the Franklin Boxing Association. Mr. C. Gibbs desires great credit as assistant organiser. The bouts resulted as follow: Bant as,—Ali Moses met Williams, and the latter was declared winner. Feather-weights.—ln this Class Davis met Harry Cross and won on a foul. Hardley went down to Fulton. Evan Davis and C. Vernall provided the st3r bout of the evening. Davis goe the decision. Light-weights.—Sanders beat Sturgess after a good exhibition. Middle-weights.—C. Smith met W. Brain. The referee stopped the fight in the third round and gave the award to Smith. Bell beat Nielson after an extra round ordered by the referee. Exhibition Bouts. —Jimmy Mitchell his brother, L. Mitchell, gave a. splendid exhibition. Jack Wilson and L. Nielson contributed three clean twominute rounds.-
