PLUNKET SOCIETY

AT TAUMARUNUI Mrs. L. G. Godfrey, president, presided over the monthly meeting - of the Taumarunui executive of the Plunket Society, held on Tuesday. Others present were Mesdames Nicholson, Peek, Keller, Seaton, Johnstone, Roscoe Smith, Manson, Bertram, Ford, Kinnell, Perry and the secretary, Miss B. M. Hellings. Mesdames C. Smith, Thomas, McLeod, Barker and Powell sent apologies for their inability to be present. The report of the Plunket nurse. Miss Worthington, showed that 17S visits to the office, 130 visits to homes, and 19 visits to outstations had been made during the month. The president intimated that the nurse wouid be glad to receive gifts of baby clothes for relieving cases of necessity. Thanks were expressed for the receipt of a sum of £1 3s 6d, being the proceeds from sale of a sheep donated by Mr. Gerke. Votes of thanks were passed to Mesdames Richter and Roscoe Smith, also to Mesdames Harris, Davis and Seaton, for their efforts in arranging bridge parties in aid of the society’s funds, these resulting in a total of £8 15s. Accounts amounting to £ 5 8s 6d were passed for payment. Letters of thanks are to be sent to Mesdames Soler and Anderson for their services to the society, while residing in the district. The matron of the new Karitane Home in Wellington wrote thanking the society for gifts to the institution.
