PART OF TAURANGA
ERECTION OF OFFICES It was announced at the last meeting of the Tauranga Harbour Board that the Northern Steamship Company had agreed to take water supplies for all their vessels entering the port and a three-years' lease of the new offices on the wharf. A proposal by Mr. J.* G. Green, seconded by Mr. Stewart, to abolish harbour dues of Is per ton on manures, was lost. At the request of settlers the removal of sand from the beaches at Otumoetai is to be prohibited. Tenders are to be invited for the erection of offices at the new railway wharf. Tauranga has been favoured with over a week’s beautiful fine weather, with a real spring atmosphere. There is every appearance of an early spring, fruit and other trees being in bloom. Farmers report that grass is coming away very fast and they are looking forward to an early and profitable milking season. * * , The Tauranga Beautifying and Horticultural Society has decided to hoid the spring show early in September.
