PAPAKURA
The Papakura Orphans’ Club held the first “Ladies Night” of the session on Thursday evening, and it proved an outstanding success. The president of the club, Bro. W. C. Wood, presided over a large gathering. Greetings were received from Auckland, Devonport and Takapuna. wishing the club a successful ladies’ evening. Apologies were received from Bro. White, president of the Otahuhu Club, and President Farrell, of the Pukekohe Club. The Onehunga Orphans’ Club was represented by Bro. Ted Sutherland and Secretary Bro. Osborne; the Otahuhu Orphans’ Club by past-presi-dent Bro. Gillies and Secretary Bro. G. Pearce. A programme of exceptional merit was submitted by Mrs. H. Stehr, Tuakau; Bros. Reyburn, Pukekohe; C. Turner Pellint, W. Roberts, Kennedy, Brewster, Duncan Black, Calvert and Allen. The orchestra was splendid and proved one of the chief features of the evening’s entertainment. A very jolly little dance followed and was thoroughly enjoyed, the orchestra kindly supplying the music.
