OTAHUHU BURGLARY
THEFT AND RECEIVING TWO MEN FOUND GUILTY After a retirement of three hours the jury at the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon returned a verdict of guilty against Wesley Overend on a charge of breaking and entering and theft. Edwin Edmunds, who also stood in the dock, was found guilty of receiving stolen goods. It was stated that on April 26 the shop of A. J. Richards, tobacconist, of Otahuhu. was broken into and tobacco and goods to the value of £l2 17s 7d removed. The case was heard before Mr. Justice Herdman. Mr. Hubble prosecuted and Mr. Hogg appeared for Edmunds. Evidence was given to the effect that Edmunds had disposed of packets of cigarettes stamped *'A. J. Richards.*’ Property found on both accused was also identified by the proprietor of the shop and his assistant. Accused were remanded until Monday for sentence.
