LIBRARY LECTURES

REMUERA A “Gilbert and Sullivan” evening arranged by Mr. Karl Atkinson will form the next item of the Remuera Library winter course, which takes place to-morrow night, July 26. Mr. Atkinson’s lecture will present the life stories of Gilbert and Sullivan, describe the plots of some of the operas and explain the allusions contained therein. Numerous stories relating to the great collaborators will be retold. Special reference will be made to the opera “Ruddigore,” which is to be revived in Auckland at an early date. Musical illustrations will be rendered by Mrs. Frank Nathan, Mrs. Karl Atkinson, Miss Nellie Lingard, Mr. Roy Dormer, Mr. Selwyn Hamlin and Mr. Karl Atkinson. Miss Tui Ward is the accompaniste. .
